DIY ENAMEL PIN STORAGE

DIY ENAMEL PIN STORAGE

It’s no shocker that we are all about enamel pins here at Oh, Hello Co. I’ve always loved them and it’s been such a joy to see some of our own designs come to life. Sometimes I am still shocked that you guys love them as much as we do. But as my collection continues to grow, finding a way to store them all has been a hassle. Added to that, with the holidays fast approaching, I needed a quick, easy, and - most importantly- cheap solution.

That’s where this DIY comes in! A cork board frame is the perfect way to display your enamel pins. You can change it as much as needed without seriously damaging it and the cork won’t bend your pins!

Here’s how I made mine:

What you’ll need:

  • Picture frames
  • Cork board
  • Super glue
  • Pen or sharpie
  • Exacto knife

Steps:

  1. Take apart your picture frame by removing the back panel. ← Set that aside.
  2. Remove the glass and the paper. ← You won’t need this stuff anymore.
  3. Take your frame and lay it over the top of the corkboard. POPPIES PRO TIP: start from the corner of your corkboard, it’ll help you later on.
  4. Using your pen or marker, trace your frame onto the corkboard.
  5. Take the exacto knife and carefully cut along the lines you made. (See why the corner helped? Now you should only have two cuts to make)
  6. Break off the piece of cork you just cut from the rest of the corkboard. POPPIES PRO TIP: if it looks crumbly along the edges where you cut, glide your finger across and they should fall off)
  7. Reattach the back panel to the picture frame.
  8. Apply super glue to the cardboard on the inside of the back panel.
  9. Place the corkboard piece you cut inside, pressing down to help the glue adhere. POPPIES PRO TIP: pressing a planner on top until the glue dries helps too!
  10. Wait for the glue to dry.
  11. Once dry, pin it up!
